Teen Competition​

Eligible Teen candidate is between the ages of 13-18
If you win, you need to be available for Miss Minnesota's Teen orientation in March
and the state competition on March 24-25, 2023

Application Steps

Application details are from the Jan 7, 2023, competition. Miss America has made significant changes and these will be updated soon...

1. Confirm your eligibility and get approval to apply. Review the contract and provide evidence of birth date and Minnesota residence eligibility and if there is still space on the roster, you will be allowed to proceed to the next step.
2. Sign up with the Miss America Organization. The fee of $35 gives you access to the many benefits of the Miss America Organization, whether or not you go on to compete in a local competition. You only need to pay this fee one time per year. Teens select the local Chain of Lakes/Capital City and do a checkout for $0 so Miss America has a record of which local you competed in.
The local competition fee supports the local program and includes a complete video and photo package of the candidate's interview and on stage competition.
3. Create a competition folder named  "[Your Name] Teen CoL/CC"  on google drive and share the folder with the Miss Chain of Lakes email noted on the checklist. You will place all of the items in the folder that are needed to compete. A complete application has the following files in the competition folder:
  • [Your Name] Resume and Social Impact.pdf  : This file is your resume and social impact statement created in accordance with the instructions downloaded by clicking the gold button Step 3: Materials
  • [Your Name] photo.jpg : This file is the headshot that will be used for social media promotion, the program and the judging panel. If you had a professional take the photo, please make sure that we know who should be credited for the photo. You may do this with a small (c) notation for the photographer on the photo or notify via email who has the rights to get photo credit.
  • [Your Name] [Talent Title].mp3 : Rules about talent are in the instructions. Please let us know if your talent will not be using a talent backing track.
  • [Your Name] contract.pdf : This signed file will be transferred to the state directors when you win a title. Be sure the file is signed in the correct pages and contains the eligibility evidence you submitted in order to compete.
Once your shared folder has all these items in it, you are ready to compete. This folder will be used to upload your professional competition photos and videos after the competition that you are entitled to by virtue of paying your teen fee.
Once you have completed the above steps, you are ready to compete. Be sure to invite your friends and family to buy their tickets in advance. We offer each contestant the opportunity to purchase a video package that includes your private interview for you to use for your personal improvement (see online store).
